    Hey Rudolph –

I just wanted to say that I LOVE Eufloria (another game I love is Osmos).

I hope you guys come up with another ambient strategy game. Not too many out there – the world needs more stuff like this. Keep ‘em coming.

Will it be delivered via Steam?

I buy it on the Indie Pack. I don’t know about it before.

The game is very funny and much beautiful too.

    Great work!

Hiya, can you go into a bit more detail? Then we can look at what’s happening and tweak it :)

Could you please answer the Steam question? The version I just bought from Steam says 2.04 and then in red 2.05 is available, but no real way to patch it. Is 2.05 / 2.06 going to be pushed through Steam?

  6. Posted 29/11/2010 at 21:51 | Permalink

Hiya, you can patch the Steam version if you like – just run the patch but supply a path to your steam apps directory e.g. C:\Program Files\Steam\common\steamapps\eufloria. 2.06 will be published through Steam as soon as they get my email, which I sent yesterday – I think Thanksgiving might delay things a little plus they have megabucks sales going on so maybe they’re a bit busy at the moment. But yes, notionally 2.06 will be coming soon on Steam. 2.05 should have gone up ages ago, I’m sorry if it hasn’t yet – must have been a breakdown in communication. 2.06 will cover it anyway.

Thanks for the info about Steam. Looking forward to the patch. And thanks for the quick response.

2.06 is live on steam now. The patch deleted my save though, game was just starting to get more interesting :(

The patch via steam seems to have erased my game progress. This is quite unfortunate. Is there a possibility of a fix?

Hi there. I bought this game on steam with the indie pack and I really enjoyed it, i got till the 20th level or something and now when I started the game after the automatic update to 2.06, my story progress was reseted, level 1 again… . Is there any way to recover it? just asking… Also, I see you made some serious changes to gameplay, I hope you tested it out well, I loved the game as it was, chilling, slow, etc, now if it get’s too fast .. I just hope it won’t lose its charm. Anyways great game u guys did nice job :)

Steam installed the patch, and it erased my save file. I was about halfway through the game… Is there any way to recover it, or manually edit the save file to get back to where I was?

backup your progress file at wherever steam is Steam\steamapps\common\eufloria\Resources\user.settings before applying the patch on steam or you will lose your progress. achievements and stats seem unharmed.

I was able to reconstruct my progress to where I was when this happened. Luckily that isn’t too difficult. Hopefully Steam won’t think I’m cheating.

After playing for 5 hours, the update destroyed me save file. :( I’m not sure if I want to get back to that spot again.

Steam patch blew away my saved games. Is there a way to fix?

  22. Hello
    Posted 30/11/2010 at 04:36 | Permalink

I’m using the game through Steam, and the most recent patch killed the save file.

I think I was on level 15 or so as well :|

This is kind of dumb you guys didn’t test the patch before rolling it out. Unless I can get the save file back, I’m done with this game. It’s not worth another ten hours to get back to where I was…

Hi, I bought Eufloria in the indie bundle from Steam in the last few days. I really enjoy it but my saved game seems to have disappeared :( I had just finished level 10 and shut down my computer for the night. When I got up in the morning, I could only begin from level 1 again. I realise I can unlock the levels but it’s really not the same as having a nice completed symbol beside each level :) Is there anyway to get a save game file starting from level 11? I’ve tried to find one via Google but to no avail :(

Since 2.06 planets seem to not produce any more seedlings if they already hold 40, regardless of the size/energy of the planet! (Tried with second and final campaign levels and both the 500 & ~90 energy planets stopped producing at 40.) Is this a new change or a bug?

  26. Posted 30/11/2010 at 19:17 | Permalink

Apologies everybody who seemingly lost progress, we did test our patch but suspect something has gone wrong on the Steam side.

The good news is that progress is not really lost. Your achievements are untouched and you can unlock the levels again in-game.

Have a look at this thread for more details:

Also, ironically the new patch makes the game play much faster and snappier. All levels will play different, so at least if you do decide you want to replay levels it should feel markedly different and take less time.

Just to be clear though, nobody lost their achievements, and you can unlock levels in the menu.

er. First the game is 2.05 while showing that 2.06 is the most recent version. Then after three days, it finally updates (and clobbers my level ~23 campaign progress) and now it has downgraded itself to 2.05 (and clobbered my new campaign progress) while again showing that 2.06 is the most recent version.
    It’s getting a bit puzzling.

  29. Posted 30/11/2010 at 20:28 | Permalink

What if I don’t want faster gameplay? I liked it just how it was.

  30. Posted 30/11/2010 at 23:39 | Permalink

We’re going to add a way to play with the old settings. Sorry. Didn’t anticipate too many people asking for this but plenty have.

Though my game did get some sort of update and I did lose my progress, which I really don’t mind, but I notice when I load the game it still says “Version: 2.05 Latest Version: 2.06″, though I noticed the game pace is alot faster, some of the features don’t show up such as seeds turning red when being attacked. Trying to fix this I installed the patch but the game constantly crashes now, either due to too many seeds or something else which I’m not quite sure about.

  32. Posted 01/12/2010 at 18:32 | Permalink

@VT: IIRC the 40 seedlings cap has been in effect since the beginning of Eufloria, resp. Dyson. In order to produce more seedlings on an asteroid, the seedlings constantly have to be sent to other places.

    Two Issues
1.So, is the 40 seedling “pseudocap” in as designed then? I’m not fond of that cap because 40-50 seedlings is the smallest number I like to have sitting on an asteroid in enemy territory, but I’ve been sending out seedlings from them in small amounts and they fill up back to 40 quickly.
2.I got the game in the steam pack and it was just a slight bit too easy, now it is too difficult.
I am stuck on 23-24 in normal mode and earlier in Dark Matter mode.
In both cases the jump in difficulty seemed abrupt – more so in normal mode. I assume this is because of the patch.
I begin with few seedlings surrounded by an enemy who pops out flowers by the dozen while I’m lucky to have one or two, who quickly amasses super-seedings and picks off my most energy rich planets (the few I can take) before I can even get enough to act as a doorstop or even speedbump, if you will. This experience is sour enough to have me contemplating removing the game from my computer.
Can the AI be scaled back to a value intermediate to the present and earlier?
Sorry to be so persnickety – I am grateful that you responded to the voice of the fans to ramp up the game a little, but it looks like overkill.

The Steam version should now be at 2.07 which allows you to go back to the original settings. The option is in the main menu, replacing “Set Language”. You may have missed it because the number of buttons is the same (set language moved into the options menu).
